Going down to Montrose Dog Friendly area is always fun and now that the warmer weather is finally about to arrive (we all hope), we have to remember where the water actually is under all that ice and snow.  It's closer than you think. And it's still really cold. There is a small ridge just past the benches that is the last seaweed that the lake deposited on the beach before things started to freeze over.  The mountains of ice are probably out above the sand bars that many of you will remember from the summer months when it was great to wade out to them.  They are NOT the lakeshore.  The following photos try to give you an idea of what we're talking about.  So, stay safe.
