This short article is a summary of information found on the Blum Blog, please refer to it for more detailed and additional information.

Swimming

Not all dogs can swim or are comfortable in the water.  Be sure to give your canine buddy a chance to acclimate especially on days when the surf is up. Throwing their favorite toy way out into the lake may not be the best idea. You may have to retieve it when your pet decides that he or she doesn't want to venture out that far.

Ears

When your dog gets his or her ears wet, there is a chance for an ear infection.  Be sure to clean out your dog's ears after they get them wet in the lake.  Consult your vet if you need help in learning how to clean your dog's ears.

When it Gets Chilly Again

If the water is too cold for you, it may also be to cold for your dog.  Dogs can suffer from hypothermia just like humans but they might not realize why they are cold.
