You may have heard there is a proposed mandatory spay/neuter ordinance here in Chicago. The ordinance will mandate that all dog and cats over 6 months old must be sterilized. The motivation behind this ordinance seems to be to regulate breeding, lessen aggressive dogs, dog bites, dog fighting, and the number of dogs in shelters. Please take a couple minutes to read this ordinance and understand what it is proposing. Since the City laws also apply in the Parks, this will ban all unsterilized dogs from the dog beach, whether you live in the City or not.
